After traveling recently to visit a college campus with our high school junior, I pulled my copy of Daily Light from my tote bag to return it to the kitchen table. It curiously fell open to September 7th – our son’s birthday!
That simple “happenstance” caught my attention enough to read the verses recorded for that date, though months away on the calendar. How touching to receive these truths just as we are encouraging our 17-year-old to experience the LORD’s leading as we earnestly pray together for clear direction regarding his future.
Maybe someone else will be touched and encouraged by these verses as today’s breakfast “psalm” . . .
The LORD thinks of me.
I know the thoughts I have for you
declares the LORD,
thoughts to prosper you
and not to harm you,
to give you a future and a hope.
My thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways My ways,
says the LORD.
For My ways are higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.
. . .
How precious are Your thoughts
toward me, O GOD!
Many, O LORD, my GOD,
are Your wonderful works
which You have done,
and Your thoughts toward us.
. . .
And we know that all things
work together for good
to those who love GOD,
to those who are called
according to His purpose.
Cause me to know
the way I should walk,
for I lift my soul to You.
Psalm 40:17 . Jeremiah 29:11 . Isaiah 55:8-9 . Psalm 139:17 . Psalm 95:2 . Romans 8:28 . Psalm 143:8
I am so humbly grateful to know THIS is the One into Whose hands we release our son’s best path ahead!
