For our “Held and Beloved” online study friends, today I’m sharing a song that touched me deeply while living through and then writing the reality of surrender in chapter eight.

This is the real and raw cry of a heart that has been crushed by that thing that laid it flat. When we need help. From the LORD. In that place, He comes close to hold that grief and pain and fear, but also to gently lead us to His right and good path to the other side. Through surrender. Drawing our hearts to give up our own fight and trust His best, leading us to willingly offer even our most valued treasures.
God Help Me by Plumb
( please enjoy the full lyric video here: https://youtu.be/Rqu7eBwhGs4 )
“I don’t know the future
It’s one day at a time
But I know I’ll be okay with Your hand holding mine
So take all my resistance
Oh GOD I need Your grace
One step and then the other show me the way
Show me the way
Help me to move
Help me to see
Help me to do whatever you would ask of me
Help me to go
GOD help me to stay
I’m feeling so alone here
And I know that You’re faithful but I can barely breathe
Oh GOD I can barely breathe
Oh I can barely breathe
GOD help me”

And then, sweet encouragement on my morning run…
Whom Shall I Fear (GOD of Angel Armies) by Chris Tomlin
“You hear me when I call
You are my morning song
Though darkness fills the night
It cannot hide the light
You crush the enemy
Underneath my feet
You are my sword and shield
Though troubles linger still
My strength is in Your name
For You alone can save
You will deliver me
Yours is the victory
And nothing formed against me shall stand
You hold the whole world in your hands
I’m holding on to Your promises
You are faithful
I know who goes before me
I know who stands behind
The GOD of angel armiesIs always by my side
The One who reigns forever
He is a friend of mine
The GOD of angel armies
Is always by my side”
And just this title on repeat from 7eventh Time Down —> “GOD is on the Move!”
