Our president declared Sunday, March 15, 2020, a national day of PRAYER, to cry out to the LORD for His guidance and His provision for our nation and our world in the face of this historic pandemic.
These verses from Psalms were on my heart throughout that day. Simple, yet poignant:
“Have mercy on me, O GOD,
I look to You for protection.
I will hide beneath the shadow of Your wings
until danger passes by.
I cry out to GOD Most High,
who will fulfill His purposes for me.
. . .
My heart is confident in You, O GOD
. . .
Your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O GOD!”
Psalm 57:1-2, 7, 10
I was also reminded of this favorite quote from Amy Carmichael, British missionary to India for most of her adult life:
The LORD delights to meet the faith of one who looks to Him and says, “LORD, You know that I cannot, but I believe You can!”
I am so thankful the LORD welcomes us to talk with Him anytime, anywhere! He delights to hear our prayers. He delights even more to answer them! When I notice myself letting out a heavy sigh, may each one be like church bells, calling me to offer those anxious moments to the One who is worthy of my trust. Always.
