To our Held and Beloved online study friends…

It is a joy to fall into this new Tuesday rhythm of sharing songs that played on repeat while I worked on this project. For CHAPTER ONE, it was What Faith Can Do by Kutless.

One important clarification: belief, in itself, is powerless. It really does matter where that trust is placed! BUT, even the tiniest mustard seed of faith in the One with whom all things are possible? Now that is POWERFUL!!! 

Hebrews 11:1 NIV
FAITH is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

1 Corinthians 2:5 ESV
That your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of GOD.

Luke 1:37 ESV
For nothing will be impossible with GOD.

It is so interesting to ponder the concept of FAITH this week… do I really believe anything (ANYTHING?) is possible with GOD? Do I trust myself to ask for things that will agree with His will?

I found myself reading a few verses that continued the thought process:

This is the victory that has overcome the world – our FAITH. (I John 5:4)

Who walks in darkness and has no light?

Let him trust in the Name of the LORD and rely on his GOD.” (Isaiah 50:10)

“What do you mean ‘if I can?'” JESUS asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

The father (of a demon-possessed boy) instantly cried out,

“I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:23-24)

Our Savior knows our wrestle with FAITH, His Spirit helps us overcome our unbelief to trust what He, alone, can truly accomplish!

As you ponder the first chapter in Held and Beloved (and the accompanying Bible passages listed in yesterday’s post) and listen to the words of this song, jot a few thoughts in a journal as you consider these few prompts:

Where does your faith rest?

What “impossible” have you entrusted to the LORD’s care?

How has He strengthened your faith in His power?

Then, as the LORD leads you, comment below to let us know what He is revealing to your heart and how we might be praying for you as you dig deep into these Held and Beloved stories!
