I glanced up from the breakfast table to catch the center ornament of our little “hope” tree shimmering in the glow of the twinkle lights.
The month hasn’t gone as planned and more days than not rushed past without any of us pausing to choose an adoration ornament, to linger over a precious thought of our Savior as we added it to the tree.
While reorganizing the gift wrap bin to go back into our garage storage space the other day, I noticed our neglected “hope” tree and was tempted to pack it all up, unused ornaments and all, to “hope” for a more focused season next year . . . but I didn’t.
Now, as we stand at the doorstep of a new year, in the quiet of the morning, I am thankful to have left our little tree in place, waiting in anticipation for us to rediscover it . . . and decided, right then and there to get up from the table, to hang every last ornament, lingering over each verse, each phrase about the One who came to be my Savior!
And all I can think is this: because of JESUS, there is always HOPE! It is never too late to circle back, slow down, linger, start again. . . to discover His promises have never wavered. They remain immovable, eternally unchanging and faithful. Because that is who He is!!! ~
Returning to Daily Light at the table, I smiled wide to see His Words confirm that truth: there is always HOPE!
“The GOD of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, the Father of glory, give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know the HOPE of His calling, the riches of His glorious inheritance, and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. ~ Draw near to GOD and He will draw near to you. ~ For I know the thoughts I have toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a HOPE. Then you will call on Me, and I will listen. You will seek Me and find me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Ephesians 1:17-19, James 4:8, Jeremiah 29:11-13
