treasures from 2020 (6 of 9): I am His servant

It is so timely for me to revisit this one as we sit just days away from the inauguration of a new president in our country. We pray it will be the peaceful transfer of power we have seen so many times, but the tumultuous climate in our nation haunts and nags.

We continue to face big, hard issues with impossibly difficult decisions. I pray our new administration will be drawn to seek wisdom from the LORD and granted the courage to follow where He leads.

In the continued uncertainty of the world around me, it is a HUGE comfort to remember to Whom I belong. “Remember Whose you are” remains His steady whisper. In the bigger picture there never has been and never will be transfer of power or authority. Our GOD is sovereign. He reigns supreme. He is eternally unchanging, trustworthy, and faithful. Whatever tomorrow holds, I am His servant and He will guide me through.

from July 2020:

We read this psalm as a family last night at the dinner table, and together drank in these words that echo many of our thoughts through this long, extraordinary, pandemic season.

As the days and weeks stretch indefinitely, we grow weary of life feeling anything but “normal” and we wonder if we can weather one more disappointing or frightening news report. This is exactly when we need a fresh reminder of our GOD’s unfailing love and His firm foundation on which we can stand!

When preparing for the hurricanes that brushed our shores in recent years, I have sensed His whisper to steady me, “remember Whose you are.” I hear that same thought echoed in David’s closing refrain, “I am Your servant.” Knowing we are His quiets our anxious moments! I hope today’s breakfast psalm brings you fresh hope today too! 🌿
